I was very sad to hear the news of Adam Yauch’s death yesterday.
We looked up to the Beastie Boys a lot when we were starting out and how they maintained artistic control making wicked records but still were on a major label, and the Tibetan Freedom Concerts they organized had a very big influence on me personally and the way Adam conducted himself and dealt with it all impressed me a lot. He was a mellow and v smart guy. May he rest in peace.

john: In today’s episode of Awesome Tumblr fans I meet while on vacation wearing my Tumblr t-shirt Meet Drake Gonzalez! He was our tour guide yesterday at the Ernest Hemingway House, Key West Drake’s grandmother’s house was next door to Hemingway’s and he kept sneaking over the fence to pool hop and play with the bevy of cats. They eventually hired him and he became the youngest tour guide at the age of 16. Fair to say he’s wicked smart about all things Ernest and has a deep knowledge of American literature  And he’s a mad awesome Tumblr fan! If you happen to be in Key West stop by Ernest’s house and say hi to Drake (and asked him for the special Tumblr tour of the place) Drake - if you see this post, I never got your Tumblr name, ping me so I can update this with a link
